Washington County, OR. — At 3:08 p.m. Saturday, December 27, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire in the 43000 block of SW Dudney Avenue in the community of Dilley.
Callers reported a motorhome on fire that was spreading to a nearby building. The incident was upgraded to a structure fire as flames extended beyond the vehicle. Fire crews arrived to find the motorhome fully engulfed, with fire spreading to a nearby trailer and garage.
Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and were able to knock down the flames, then spent more than an hour checking for hotspots within the burned portion of the garage to prevent rekindling.
One person sustained burn injuries and was transported to a burn center in Portland with serious injuries. A dog was found deceased inside the motorhome. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A total of 22 fire personnel responded to the scene. Assisting agencies included the Cornelius Fire Department, Gaston Fire District, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Elsie-Vinemaple Fire District, AMR Ambulance, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Forest Grove Police, and the Oregon State Police.
