Sweet Home, OR. – Official Release: Sweet Home Fire District was dispatched to a tractor trailer fire at a private residence at approx 3pm (February 16th). Initial reports were that a trailer used for storage had smoke and flames showing. Due to the quick action of the homeowner, applying water with a garden hose prior to firefighters arrival, only light smoke was showing.
Crews finished extinguishing the fire with on scene personnel. Sweet Home responded with one chief officer, three fire apparatus for a total of 10 personnel. During this time additional medical calls for service were received and we would like to thank Lebanon Fire District and Sweet Home Police for responding with Sweet Home medics for additional manpower when requested.
At 7pm this evening Sweet Home Fire District was dispatched to a structure fire in the area 4th Ave and Highway 20. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke and fire visible in roughly fifty percent of the structure. The commanding officer spoke to the resident who confirmed everyone had evacuated the residence.
The fire was brought under control after about an hour and fifteen minutes, with crews remaining on scene an additional hour for mop up. Sweet Home Fire responded with three chief officers, three fire apparatus, one medic unit and one rehab vehicle with a total of 18 personnel. Once again we would like to thank Lebanon Fire District and Sweet Home Police for their assistance.
During both incidents no firefighters or civilians were injured.
