Justice Gavel Court Sentenced 2

A 38-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for receiving, distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material.

Robert Andrew Arias was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon Scott Bradford.

Arias pleaded guilty to all three federal charges in August 2026. The investigation, led by the FBI, identified him as an active participant in online networks used to exchange illegal material.

In December 2023, investigators executed a federal search warrant and seized multiple digital devices. A subsequent examination revealed the presence of child sexual abuse material.

“This sentence sends a clear message: if you exploit children, we will find you and you will go to federal prison,” Bradford said.

As part of his sentence, Arias must register as a sex offender and comply with court-ordered monitoring requirements and restrictions. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the digital devices used in the offenses.

The FBI investigated the case, which was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
