The Justice Department’s Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism will begin its American Tour Against Hate in Southfield, Michigan, on October 14, launching a national campaign intended to connect local communities with federal officials and resources to address antisemitism.

The department announced the first stop October 7, describing the tour as a federal initiative to bring government assistance directly to communities experiencing hate and discrimination. Registration information for the Michigan event is available at mizoa.org/events.

Attorney General Todd Blanche said the campaign is intended to help communities work with the federal government to confront antisemitic threats, protect public safety and uphold civil rights.

“This national tour is an important step in ensuring communities across the country know the federal government stands ready to work with them,” Blanche said.

Leo Terrell, who chairs the task force and leads the tour, said the initiative would address hate and prejudice across the country. He also acknowledged the significance of announcing the event on October 7, a date associated with the 2023 Hamas-led attacks on Israel.

Associate Attorney General Stanley E. Woodward Jr. said the department’s work includes protecting freedom of speech and the free exercise of religion.

The announcement connects the tour to the Trump administration’s broader efforts to combat antisemitism, including the president’s January 2025 executive order.

The department did not identify additional tour stops or provide a detailed event agenda in the announcement.

People who believe they have experienced discrimination can submit a report through the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division complaint portal. Updates about the tour will also be shared through the department’s and Terrell’s social media accounts.
