Roseburg Library to Host Free Program on Peru’s Hummingbirds Oct. 7

Roseburg, OR. — Umpqua Bird Alliance and Roseburg Public Library will host “The Northern Peru Hummingbirds,” a free presentation by naturalist and video photographer Serge Queant, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Queant will take attendees on a video tour of eight hummingbird reserves in northern Peru, featuring 35 species. A second part of the program will highlight other birds, including the Inca tern, Humboldt penguin, Andean condor, diademed sandpiper and paradise tanager.

Born in Paris, Queant studied animal behavior and spent nine years documenting a captive group of chimpanzees. He later filmed wildlife in Europe, North Africa and the American Southwest. After retiring to Roseburg in 2005, he became an avid birder.
