WASCO COUNTY, Ore. — A 21-year-old Dufur man was killed and two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 197 in Wasco County.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. Aug. 22 near milepost 8, according to Oregon State Police.
A preliminary investigation found that Cameron Michael Bostick, 21, of Dufur, was driving a gray Ford Fusion southbound on Highway 197 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane for reasons that remain under investigation. The Ford then collided head-on with a Ram 2500 pickup driven by Breann Alyse Young, 35, of The Dalles.
Bostick was pronounced dead at the scene.
Young was seriously injured and transported by Life Flight to an area hospital. A 4-year-old girl who was riding in the Ram was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 197 was affected for approximately three hours while emergency crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
Oregon State Police was assisted by the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, Dufur Volunteer Fire and EMS, U.S. Forest Service law enforcement, U.S. Forest Service Wildland Fire personnel and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
