STAYTON, Ore. — Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a wanted suspect Wednesday after the individual fled from a residence in Stayton and was apprehended several blocks away.
Deputies were searching for the suspect at a residence in the 400 block of W. Locust Street when they established a law enforcement presence in the area. As deputies set up, the suspect fled the residence.
Deputies pursued the suspect and took the individual into custody several blocks from the residence.
The sheriff’s office said there was a strong law enforcement presence in the area during the incident, but the suspect is now in custody and there is no ongoing danger to the community.
The suspect had outstanding warrants, and additional charges are pending.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Stayton Police Department for assisting deputies during the incident.
No additional information was expected to be released Wednesday evening.
