SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a house fire in southeast Springfield early Saturday morning, August 8, after reports of flames coming from the back porch of a home in the 3700 block of Jasper Road.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze shortly after 4 a.m. Callers reported that fire was extending from the rear porch and above the roof of the residence.
Battalion 3 and Tower 3 arrived to find a large volume of fire coming from the home. The flames were also threatening a neighboring residence as the fire spread through nearby vegetation.
Crews immediately searched the home to make sure everyone had evacuated while simultaneously working to contain and extinguish the fire. Additional firefighting resources were requested because of the fire’s spread through vegetation and the threat to the second home.
Firefighters ultimately contained the blaze to the primary residence, and no other homes were damaged. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
