LANE COUNTY, Ore. — An 18-year-old Dallas woman was killed Monday evening in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 58 near Rattlesnake Road in Lane County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 5:24 p.m. on July 27, 2026.
A preliminary investigation found that a gray Mazda 3 sedan, driven by Leilani Kana’i Barto, 18, of Dallas, was traveling eastbound and attempting to pass other vehicles when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a silver Toyota Highlander SUV.
The Toyota, driven by Arthur Allen Corliss, 74, of Eugene, was then struck by a westbound Kenworth semi-truck and trailer operated by Anthony Richard Luna, 38, of Sutherlin.
Barto was pronounced dead at the scene.
Corliss sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Luna was not injured in the crash, police said.
Highway 58 remained impacted for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene and crews cleared the roadway.
According to the Oregon State Police, excessive speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire & Rescue, the Eugene Police Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
