Shots Fired at Hood River County Deputy During Odell Wedding Investigation; Suspect Arrested
ODELL, Ore. — A Hood River County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a civilian narrowly escaped injury early Sunday after a suspect allegedly opened fire while the deputy was investigating a reported threat at a wedding reception in Odell.
According to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 26, 2026, when dispatchers received a report that a man had threatened to shoot another guest at a wedding in the 4300 block of Summit Drive before leaving the area.
A deputy responded to the scene and was interviewing the reporting party next to the individual’s truck across the road from the wedding venue when the suspect allegedly emerged from an orchard on the opposite side of the road and fired multiple rounds toward them.
Neither the deputy nor the civilian was struck by the gunfire. The deputy immediately moved nearby wedding guests and other innocent parties to safety behind vehicles while additional law enforcement units responded.
Deputies from the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office were joined by officers from the Hood River City Police Department in searching the area, but the shooter was not immediately located.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Abraham Delgado Bucio, 29, of The Dalles. Investigators allege Bucio had threatened wedding attendees before attempting to shoot one of the guests, although the firearm reportedly failed to discharge during that encounter.
A vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect was later spotted by Hood River City Police and followed into Wasco County. Law enforcement officers from the Wasco County Sheriff’s Office, The Dalles Police Department, and Hood River City Police conducted a traffic stop and took Bucio into custody without incident.
Bucio was lodged in jail on multiple felony charges related to the shooting. Authorities have not yet released the specific charges.
The investigation remains ongoing. No injuries were reported during the incident.
