SALEM, Ore. — Salem Police have issued a correction to a July 25 drug arrest, clarifying that officers seized significantly more fentanyl than originally reported during a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of two Salem residents.
According to the updated information from the arresting officer, police seized 78.7 grams (2.77 ounces) of fentanyl and 24 grams of methamphetamine during the investigation. The department noted that a previously released photograph depicts only the fentanyl.
The arrests occurred at approximately 12:18 a.m. on July 25 near the intersection of Market Street and Hawthorne Avenue NE.
Police said the driver, Shatemra Rowles, 44, was found to be operating the vehicle with a felony-level suspended driver’s license. Officers also discovered that both Rowles and her passenger, Rylee Obert, 29, had outstanding felony warrants.
Following the traffic stop, investigators recovered the narcotics from the vehicle and took both individuals into custody.
Rowles was lodged at the Marion County Jail on charges of Driving While Suspended (Felony) and a criminal arrest warrant.
Obert was lodged at the Marion County Jail on multiple charges, including a criminal arrest warrant, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Possession of Fentanyl.
