SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Division of Financial Regulation (DFR) has ended its financial supervision of ATRIO Health Plans, Inc., concluding that the insurer has made significant improvements to its financial condition after months of regulatory oversight.
DFR announced the supervision was officially terminated on July 14, after determining that the issues that prompted state intervention had been resolved.
The division initially placed ATRIO under supervision on April 13, 2026, following concerns about the company’s financial stability. According to regulators, ATRIO had experienced substantial operating losses over the previous year, resulting in a weakened financial position. Those financial challenges also contributed to a backlog of insurance claims and delayed payments to health care providers.
State officials said ATRIO has since taken significant steps to strengthen its financial standing, including improving its policyholders’ surplus to a level that satisfied regulatory requirements. Throughout the supervision process, DFR worked in partnership with the California Conservation and Liquidation Office (CACLO).
As of March 31, 2026, ATRIO provided Medicare Advantage coverage to approximately 36,292 Oregon members across Clackamas, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lane, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Washington, and Yamhill counties.
“Terminating the supervision of ATRIO is a successful step in the process of regulating insurance companies,” said Oregon Insurance Commissioner TK Keen. “DFR, together with the CACLO team, has shown the strength of the state-based system of regulation and the work we do each day to improve the marketplace for consumers.”
The Oregon Division of Financial Regulation oversees insurance companies and other financial institutions operating in the state, with a mission to protect consumers and ensure the financial stability of regulated businesses. The agency is part of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services.
