Bend Man Arrested After Firing Multiple Shots During Dispute Near 7-Eleven
BEND, Ore. – A 34-year-old Bend man was arrested Friday after police say he fired multiple shots into the air during a dispute near a convenience store on NE Franklin Avenue earlier this week.
According to the Bend Police Department, officers responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of NE Franklin Avenue at approximately 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Investigators determined that two men arrived at a 7-Eleven in a Subaru Forester at approximately 7:56 p.m. The passenger entered the store and made a purchase before returning to the vehicle around 8:17 p.m.
After getting back into the Subaru, the passenger allegedly displayed a black firearm. The vehicle then drove into the alley behind the store, where the passenger exchanged words with another man.
Police said the passenger got out of the vehicle, pointed the firearm at the man and fired at least three shots into the air before the Subaru sped westbound through the alley.
Following several days of investigation and a review of surveillance footage, officers identified the suspect as Nicholas James Williams, 34, of Bend.
On Friday afternoon, Nov. 6, officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Williams’ vehicle in the 500 block of SW Bond Street and arrested him.
Williams was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon and menacing.
Police also executed a search warrant at Williams’ apartment in northwest Bend, where they located the firearm and clothing allegedly used during the incident.
The case is listed under Bend Police Department case number 2026-00061542.
