JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A 54-year-old Eagle Point man was killed Saturday evening after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway 140 in Jackson County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, near milepost 6 on Highway 140.
A preliminary investigation determined that Brian Jay Moore, 54, of Eagle Point, was riding a black Yamaha motorcycle westbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a guardrail.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Oregon State Police, witnesses reported the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed immediately before the crash.
Highway 140 was impacted for approximately three hours while investigators processed the scene.
The Oregon State Police were assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
