EUGENE, Ore. — An adult was injured Tuesday evening after gunfire was fired into a residence in west Eugene in what investigators believe was a targeted attack, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 7:20 p.m. on July 7 after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the 500 block of Lynnbrook Drive. Callers reported that one person had been struck by gunfire directed at a home and that the suspect or suspects had fled the area before law enforcement arrived.
Deputies quickly secured the scene and launched an investigation. Detectives with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section responded to process evidence and interview witnesses.
Investigators determined that an adult inside the home was struck by a bullet after it penetrated the exterior of the residence. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officials have not released the victim’s condition.
According to detectives, evidence gathered during the investigation indicates the shooting was a targeted act directed toward a member of the victim’s family.
The suspect has not been identified or arrested and may still be armed. However, investigators said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the general public, noting the shooting appears to have been a targeted incident rather than a random act of violence.
The investigation remains active, and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office said no additional information is being released at this time.
