CORNELIUS, Ore. — A 68-year-old Cornelius man was found dead inside his home Wednesday morning following a residential fire, and investigators are working to determine what caused the blaze.
At approximately 7:45 a.m. on July 8, 2026, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported house fire at a residence located at 1378 Baseline Street in Cornelius. Deputies closed the roadway to traffic while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
Once the fire was brought under control, investigators entered the home and discovered a deceased man inside. The Washington County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 68-year-old Jerome “Jerry” Milliken, who was a resident of the home. His family has been notified.
Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are working alongside fire investigators to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire. The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made.
