SALEM, Ore. — Three Salem-area suspects, including a juvenile, were arrested Sunday night following an assault in northeast Salem that left a 23-year-old man injured, according to the Salem Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 6:09 p.m. on July 5 to the 5200 block of Silver Loop NE after receiving a report of an assault. The victim told investigators that the incident began around 5:37 p.m. after a disagreement with 19-year-old Gabriella Reyes Carteno, who allegedly arrived at his residence with 19-year-old Rocky Donvan Gonzalez and a 17-year-old male.
Police said the victim reported that all three suspects assaulted him during the confrontation. He was allegedly struck in the head with a firearm, causing injuries.
Following the assault, the suspects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers later located the vehicle at a nearby residence and requested assistance from Salem Police’s Violent Crimes Unit to obtain a search warrant.
While detectives prepared the warrant application, officers established verbal contact with the occupants of the residence. Police said all three suspects eventually surrendered peacefully and were taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, detectives recovered a firearm along with additional evidence related to the case.
Reyes Carteno and Gonzalez were booked into the Marion County Jail, while the 17-year-old was lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Department. All three face charges that include second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing.
The investigation remains ongoing. Salem Police said any additional inquiries should be directed to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.
