CLARK COUNTY, Wash. — A 39-year-old ATV rider died after a collision with an SUV late Saturday night in Clark County, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026, to a crash involving a vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) at the intersection of Northeast 76th Street and Northeast 137th Avenue.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2008 Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on Northeast 76th Street and was attempting to turn left onto northbound Northeast 137th Avenue. At the same time, a 39-year-old man was operating a 2003 Kawasaki ATV westbound on Northeast 76th Street without wearing a helmet or other protective equipment. As the Ford Escape made the left turn, it collided with the ATV.
Emergency medical personnel with AMR transported the ATV rider to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe alcohol impairment may have been a contributing factor in the crash involving the ATV rider. Authorities said the driver of the Ford Escape remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the fatal collision.
The identity of the deceased, as well as the official cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
