PORTLAND, Ore. — A Warm Springs man has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison for sexually abusing two minors during a sleepover at his residence on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, federal prosecutors announced.
Desmond Ray Florez, 34, was sentenced Tuesday to 50 months in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford.
Court documents show that on April 13, 2025, Florez sexually abused two minors who were attending a sleepover at his home. During the investigation, officers with the Warm Springs Police Department learned that Florez had also sexually abused one of the victims approximately four years earlier.
A federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment against Florez on July 1, 2025, charging him with sexual abuse of a minor and sexually abusive contact. Florez pleaded guilty to both charges on Feb. 19, 2026.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Warm Springs Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Arin Heinz prosecuted the case.
Federal officials noted that the prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The program coordinates federal, state and local resources to identify victims, investigate offenders and prosecute those who exploit children.
