WILLIAMS, Ore. — A Josephine County man is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly driving an all-terrain vehicle while intoxicated and crashing with two juveniles onboard, leaving all three riders injured.
According to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 7:41 p.m. on June 4 to a reported traffic crash in the 1000 block of Caves Camp Road in Williams.
Investigators determined that 43-year-old Timothy Cornia was operating a quad ATV when he left the roadway, struck a tree, and came to rest in a patch of blackberry bushes. Two juveniles were riding on the ATV with Cornia at the time of the crash.
Authorities said none of the three riders were wearing helmets.
All three occupants suffered physical injuries and were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Hospital staff later reported that Cornia appeared to be intoxicated. Following the investigation, the case was forwarded to the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Cornia is expected to face charges including Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, two counts of Reckless Endangering, and two counts of Third-Degree Assault.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the dangers of impaired driving and reminded residents to make responsible decisions behind the wheel. Officials also urged ATV riders to wear helmets to help reduce the risk of serious injury in the event of a crash.
