PORTLAND, Ore. — The Lents International Farmers Market will open for its 21st season on Sunday, June 7, welcoming shoppers back to Southeast Portland for another year of fresh local food, family activities, and community connections.
The seasonal neighborhood market operates every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Nov. 22 at The ZED, located at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Reedway Street between Foster Road and Harold Street.
Managed by the Portland Farmers Market, the market features an average of 10 vendors each week offering locally grown produce, flowers, eggs, pork, baked goods, hot meals, and specialty food items. Organizers expect approximately 500 shoppers to attend opening day.
The market is known for serving one of Portland’s most diverse neighborhoods by providing access to fresh, affordable, and culturally relevant foods. In addition to seasonal produce, shoppers can find unique fruits and vegetables grown by Hmong, Latino, and Russian farmers.
Families will once again be able to participate in the market’s weekly children’s program, which offers educational activities focused on seasonal foods and farming. Elementary school-aged children who participate receive $4 to spend directly with market farmers.
Live music will also return this season, with performances by local musicians scheduled every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Several community organizations, including the OSU Extension Service Master Gardeners, Green Lents, and East Portland Collective, will host informational booths throughout the season, providing resources and outreach to visitors.
The market accepts cash, credit and debit cards, as well as SNAP/Oregon Trail EBT benefits. Through the Double Up Food Bucks program, SNAP shoppers can receive up to $20 per day to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from participating farm vendors. The Suma program will also return this year, providing additional funds to help stretch food budgets for SNAP recipients.
Established in 2006, the Lents International Farmers Market was created to improve access to fresh food while supporting immigrant farmers, emerging agricultural producers, and new food entrepreneurs through direct-to-consumer sales opportunities.
Portland Farmers Market, the nonprofit organization that operates the Lents market, manages five farmers markets across Portland and serves as an incubator for emerging farms and food businesses throughout the region.
Market officials say the weekly event continues to play an important role in strengthening community connections while supporting local agriculture and small businesses in East Portland.
