BATTLE GROUND, Wash. — A Battle Ground man has been arrested on murder and attempted murder charges following a deadly stabbing that left one man dead and a woman seriously injured Friday afternoon, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators identified the suspect as 39-year-old Steven Williams of Battle Ground. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on one count of first-degree murder with a domestic violence designation and one count of first-degree attempted murder with a domestic violence designation.
Deputies responded at approximately 1:28 p.m. June 5 to a reported stabbing near Northeast 117th Avenue and Northeast 244th Street in Battle Ground.
When deputies arrived, they discovered two stabbing victims. A man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman suffering from serious injuries was transported to a local hospital. Authorities said the surviving victim remains in stable condition.
According to investigators, both victims are related to Williams. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending official confirmation and notification procedures.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit assumed control of the investigation and processed the scene. Detectives determined that Williams allegedly attacked the victims with edged weapons. Multiple knives were recovered from the residence.
Authorities said Williams surrendered to law enforcement officers when they arrived at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
As part of the investigation, Northeast 244th Street was temporarily closed between State Route 503 and Northeast 239th Street. The roadway has since reopened to regular traffic.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Battle Ground Police Department and the Vancouver Police Department for assisting with the response and investigation.
