VENETA, Ore. — A 63-year-old Veneta man has been arrested on murder charges following a fatal shooting Tuesday night in rural Lane County, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at approximately 9 p.m. on June 3 to reports of a shooting in the 87000 block of Huston Road in Veneta. When deputies arrived, they contacted several individuals at the scene and discovered one person deceased.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Mark Thomas Tierney.
Following an investigation, Lane County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested 63-year-old Martin Grant Tierney in connection with the shooting. He was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
Authorities said all individuals involved in the incident have been identified and accounted for. Investigators emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Additional details have not yet been released.
