City officials encourage residents to take advantage of the facilities while enjoying Medford’s parks and outdoor spaces during the summer months.
Along with the seasonal opening, the city is reminding residents to practice hot weather safety. Recommended precautions include staying hydrated by drinking water frequently, using sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 and reapplying it every two hours, wearing lightweight clothing and hats, and taking breaks in shaded areas or park shelters.
Officials also emphasized the importance of never leaving children or pets unattended in parked vehicles and encouraged residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and family members during periods of hot weather.
The splash pads are intended to provide a free and accessible way for families, children, and visitors to stay active and cool as temperatures rise across southern Oregon.
For Medford residents looking to beat the heat, the seasonal opening marks the unofficial start of summer recreation in the city’s parks system.
