Oregon — Oregon Republican gubernatorial candidate David Medina issued a message to supporters Tuesday night after initial election results showed him finishing sixth in the Republican primary for governor.
According to unofficial results reported by the Oregon Secretary of State, former House Minority Leader Christine Drazan led the Republican field with 41.88% of the vote, followed by businessman Ed Diehl with 32.77% and former NBA player Chris Dudley with 16.24%. Medina received 16,327 votes, or 4.77% statewide. Danielle Bethell received 2.16%, while Hope Dalrymple received 0.13%.
In a statement to supporters, Medina thanked volunteers and voters, describing his campaign as “a true grassroots movement powered by people who love this state and believe our best days are still ahead.”
“Thank you for your prayers, your support, your time, and your votes,” Medina wrote. “This campaign was never about one person. It was about standing up for faith, family, and the future of Oregon.”
Medina acknowledged disappointment with the outcome but said he remained optimistic about the future.
“While this race did not end the way we had hoped, I am incredibly proud of what we built together,” he said.
The candidate, whose campaign frequently emphasized faith-based themes and conservative social values, also encouraged supporters to remain politically engaged following the primary.
“This is not the end. This is the beginning of something bigger,” Medina wrote. “Please continue to pray for Oregon, stay engaged, and never lose hope. The fight for a safer, stronger, and more faithful future continues.”
Medina closed the statement by thanking supporters “for standing with me” and signed off with the phrase “Victory through Faith.”
