Suspect Arrested in Beaverton Road Shooting Investigation

BEAVERTON, Ore. — A Portland man has been arrested in connection with an April shooting in Beaverton that police say stemmed from a workplace argument.

According to the Beaverton Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:03 a.m. on April 10, 2026, to reports of a shooting on Southwest Denny Road just west of Highway 217.

Investigators allege that 37-year-old David J. Oliver of Portland followed a coworker from their workplace in Portland after the two had an argument while at work. Police said Oliver allegedly fired a single handgun round into the driver’s side door of the victim’s vehicle while the victim was inside the car.

The bullet lodged in the vehicle’s driver-side door panel and did not strike the victim, who was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time, according to police.

On May 15, 2026, Beaverton police detectives executed search warrants in Gresham and North Portland with assistance from Portland SERT and East Metro SWAT. Authorities said Oliver was located and taken into custody without incident.

Oliver was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges including Attempted Murder II, Attempted Assault I, and Unlawful Use of a Firearm. He is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
