ASTORIA, Ore. — The newly formed Clatsop County Street Crimes Unit made two arrests this week in separate incidents involving weapons, drugs, and a wanted fugitive, according to the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 5, 2026, at about 1 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit observed two suspicious individuals near the end of 4th Lane in rural Astoria. Uniformed deputies responded to the area and conducted an investigation.
Following the investigation, deputies arrested 36-year-old Casey L. Brown. Brown was charged with possession of weapons by certain felons and unlawful possession of fentanyl. He was transported to the Clatsop County Jail.
In a separate incident on May 6, 2026, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit located 46-year-old Jason W. Ficken in Seaside. Authorities said Ficken was wanted on an Oregon Parole Board warrant and was also facing numerous charges in Pacific County, Washington, including felony domestic violence offenses.
According to the sheriff’s office, Ficken fled on foot when officers attempted to take him into custody. Deputies from the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Seaside, Gearhart, and Cannon Beach police departments, responded to assist in the search.
Sheriff’s Office K-9 Drako and a drone operated by Cannon Beach Police were deployed during the search effort. Ficken was eventually located in a wooded area not far from where he initially fled and was taken into custody without further incident.
Ficken was transported to the Clatsop County Jail, where he was lodged pending further proceedings.
