SALEM, Ore. — The 2026 Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem, bringing together families, colleagues, and law enforcement leaders to honor officers who died in the line of duty.
The annual ceremony recognizes Oregon’s fallen law enforcement professionals whose names are engraved on the Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial. The memorial currently bears 199 names, representing officers who have died in the line of duty since the 1860s. Those honored include personnel from city, county, state, tribal, and federal agencies, spanning law enforcement, corrections, and parole and probation services.
Officials with the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) and Oregon’s broader law enforcement community noted that no new names were added to the memorial this year, a solemn update welcomed by those who oversee the tribute.
The ceremony serves as an opportunity for families, friends, and colleagues to gather in remembrance and reflection, ensuring that the sacrifices of fallen officers are preserved and honored. DPSST emphasized that the event remains a significant moment of unity and remembrance within Oregon’s public safety community.
The Oregon observance is held in advance of National Police Week activities in Washington, D.C., allowing families and colleagues to participate in both commemorations. Nationally, more than 23,000 officers who have died in the line of duty are honored.
DPSST hosts the ceremony in partnership with the Oregon Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, Oregon Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation, and statewide law enforcement associations.
