HOOD RIVER COUNTY, Ore. (April 27, 2026) — A 24-year-old Hermiston man was killed early Sunday morning in a suspected hit-and-run crash on Interstate 84 near Hood River, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 5:58 a.m. on April 26 near milepost 66. A preliminary investigation found that Hunter Clay Miller was walking in the westbound travel lane for unknown reasons when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle traveling in the slow lane.
The vehicle involved did not remain at the scene, and investigators have not yet identified a suspect.
Authorities said a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle was discovered several miles east of the crash site. It remains unclear whether Miller was associated with the motorcycle.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Interstate 84 was impacted for approximately two and a half hours as investigators processed the scene.
