Medford, OR. — The Medford Urban Renewal Agency (MURA) Board has approved up to $500,000 to fund early-stage analysis of a proposed baseball stadium project, advancing a key downtown redevelopment concept.
The funding, authorized April 15, 2026, through Resolution 2026-007, remains contingent on the selection of a qualified engineering and design firm through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process. City officials emphasized that issuing the RFP does not commit the City or MURA to spend funds unless a firm is selected and the project moves forward.
The feasibility study will be supported by a $250,000 matching contribution from Elmore Sports Group, bringing the total study budget to $750,000.
If approved, the selected firm would conduct a 10% engineering design, cost analysis, and due diligence review to assess the viability of the project. The study will examine two potential stadium sites: Hawthorne Park, the preferred option aligned with downtown revitalization goals, and Harry & David Field in South Medford, identified as a potentially more cost-effective alternative.
City leaders say the effort builds on recent actions to include the stadium concept in the Center City Revitalization Plan and reflects broader goals to expand regional economic development opportunities. Findings from the study will guide future decisions on whether to proceed with the project.
