PRINEVILLE, Ore. (April 16, 2026) – Fire crews quickly contained a structure fire at a warehouse in Prineville on Thursday afternoon, preventing further damage and avoiding injuries.
According to officials, the fire was reported at approximately 12:19 p.m. at 646 NW Madras Highway, a property occupied by Les Schwab Tire. The building is described as a warehouse facility.
Firefighters arriving on scene found an active fire burning inside the structure, with flames visible along structural members. Crews from Crook County Fire & Rescue responded with two structure engines and one medic unit and immediately began suppression efforts.
Thanks to what officials described as quick and decisive action by firefighting personnel, the blaze was accessed and brought under control within 45 minutes of arrival. No injuries were reported, and no rescues were necessary.
Additional support was provided through mutual aid, including a ladder truck from Redmond Fire & Rescue and a medic unit from Bend Fire & Rescue for station coverage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
