CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. (April 16, 2026) – A woman was killed and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 26 near Welches, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash around 3:00 p.m. on April 15 near milepost 39. A preliminary investigation found that a white Dodge Ram, driven by 39-year-old Alen Hatunic of Portland, was traveling westbound when it lost control on a stretch of roadway covered in snow and hail.
Investigators say the truck crossed the roadway, went through a ditch, and crashed head-on into a tree.
A rear passenger, identified as 34-year-old Nina Westbrook of Gresham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hatunic was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Another passenger, 39-year-old Eugene Bryce Westbrook of Portland, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. A 2-year-old girl in the vehicle was transported with minor injuries.
Highway 26 was impacted for approximately three hours as crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
Authorities believe weather and roadway conditions, along with speed, were contributing factors in the crash.
Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Hoodland Fire District, AMR Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
