Klamath Falls, OR. — The Klamath Falls Police Department has announced the retirement of K9 Bullitt after the veteran police dog was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
According to the department, Bullitt’s condition nearly claimed his life last month. While he is currently receiving treatment, officials said he is no longer able to continue his duties as a working K9.
Bullitt will now spend his remaining time with his handler, Sergeant Trahern Fox, and family, enjoying a more relaxed life after years of active service.
A Belgian Malinois trained in both patrol and narcotics detection, Bullitt began serving with the department in August 2017. Over nearly eight years, he became a key part of law enforcement operations and a familiar presence in the community.
In a statement, the department expressed gratitude for Bullitt’s service, calling him an invaluable member of both the agency and the Klamath Falls community.
“Bullitt, you will always be remembered,” the department said. “Thank you for your unwavering dedication, loyal service, and commitment.”
Police officials said the department will honor Bullitt’s contributions as he transitions into retirement.
