Oregon — The Oregon Department of Agriculture is accepting applications to fill 58 commissioner positions across 22 of Oregon’s agricultural and commercial fisheries commodity commissions, with a deadline of April 20, 2026.
Commissioners are appointed by the ODA director and serve as public officials, typically for three-year terms. The positions play a key role in guiding funding decisions for industry promotion, education, and research projects that support Oregon’s agricultural and fisheries sectors.
ODA officials say they are seeking applicants who reflect the diversity of the state’s farmers, ranchers, processors, and commercial fishing communities.
Eligibility requirements vary by position. Public members must be U.S. citizens and Oregon residents with an active interest in improving the economic conditions of the commodity they represent, but cannot be directly involved in producing or handling that commodity. Producers and handlers must also be U.S. citizens and Oregon residents and must have paid or collected commodity assessments for at least the past three years.
Open seats span a wide range of industries, including beef, blueberries, dairy, hazelnuts, hemp, potatoes, salmon, wheat, and Dungeness crab, among others. Some positions are region-specific, representing areas such as the Willamette Valley, North Coast, or ports like Newport and Charleston.
Commodity commissions advise on investments that strengthen Oregon’s agricultural economy, support research, and expand market opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Interested applicants can find more information and apply through the state’s Commodity Commissions website before the April 20 deadline.
