Astoria, OR. — Clatsop County is asking residents to help shape the future of its Fair & Expo through a public survey and upcoming open houses as part of a long-term planning effort.
County officials, working in partnership with the Fair Board, have launched an update to the Fair & Expo Strategic Plan—the first comprehensive revision since 2009. The updated plan will guide future decisions on facilities, programming, and overall use of the fairgrounds.
Community input is a central component of the process. Residents, exhibitors, vendors, and event organizers are encouraged to share feedback through a short online survey and by attending public meetings.
“The Fair & Expo brings people together, and this is a chance for the community to help shape its future,” said Fair Board Chair Abigale Goodman. “We hope people will take a few minutes to complete the survey or join us at the open house and share their ideas.”
The first open house is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Clatsop County Fairgrounds. Attendees can learn about the planning process, provide input on facilities and programming, and speak directly with organizers. A second open house will be held May 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., where draft recommendations will be presented for additional feedback.
The online survey will remain open through April 30 and is intended to gather broad community perspectives in just a few minutes.
The strategic planning process also includes data analysis and engagement with community partners, with completion expected by June 30, 2026.
