Portland, OR. — Authorities in Portland are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest connected to a suspected arson fire earlier this month.
According to the Portland Fire Investigations Unit (FIU), crews responded around 10:45 p.m. on April 11 to a fire in the 100 block of Northeast 100th Avenue. The blaze, located at the future site of a recovery facility, escalated to a third-alarm response before firefighters brought it under control.
Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set. At this time, officials say there is no evidence the facility itself was specifically targeted.
FIU, a joint unit composed of personnel from the Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue, has released an image of a person of interest believed to frequent the area between Northeast Glisan Street and East Burnside Street, and Northeast 102nd Avenue to Interstate 205.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted via email to arsontips@police.portlandoregon.gov.
