DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. (April 3, 2026) — A 25-year-old Salem woman died Thursday evening in a single-vehicle crash along Interstate 5 near Canyonville, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 6:01 p.m. on April 2 near milepost 95 in Douglas County.
Preliminary findings indicate a silver BMW 320, driven by Siayrah Jade Steeley, was traveling southbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons near the milepost 95 off-ramp outside Canyonville. The vehicle traveled roughly 400 feet along a grassy shoulder before striking a tree. It then continued approximately 40 feet down a riverbank, where it came to rest and caught fire.
Steeley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the crash did not impact traffic on Interstate 5 during the investigation.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the South Umpqua Fire Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
