Fatal Crash – Highway 34 – Lincoln County
LINCOLN COUNTY, Ore. (April 3, 2026) — A single-vehicle crash along Highway 34 near Waldport on Thursday evening left one person dead and another seriously injured, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 7:41 p.m. on April 2 near milepost 3. A preliminary investigation found that a maroon Chrysler Sebring, driven by 24-year-old Jacob Hendrick Walton of Troutdale, was traveling westbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car left the roadway and struck several trees along the embankment.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 51-year-old Jack Hendrick Walton of Portland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jacob Walton was seriously injured and transported by Life Flight to a nearby hospital.
Investigators believe speed and suspected impairment were contributing factors in the crash.
Highway 34 was impacted for approximately eight hours while crews conducted an on-scene investigation.
The Oregon State Police were assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Central Coast Fire and Rescue, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
