PORTLAND, Ore. — A 33-year-old Guatemalan national unlawfully residing in the United States has pleaded guilty to damaging federal property after striking a government vehicle during a law enforcement pursuit, federal officials announced.
Alvaro Carrillo entered a guilty plea to one count of depredation of government property in federal court in Portland.
According to court documents, the incident occurred on November 11, 2025, when federal Border Patrol agents assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Carrillo. Authorities said Carrillo fled the scene, accelerating away and repeatedly ramming a Border Patrol vehicle during the pursuit.
The chase ended when Carrillo lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete barrier.
A federal grand jury in Portland indicted Carrillo on December 9, 2025, on charges of aggravated assault and depredation of government property.
Carrillo was sentenced to time served, having spent nearly five months in custody. In addition, he was ordered to pay $1,409.27 in restitution for the damage caused.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
