Elgin Becomes Oregon’s First Bigfoot Sanctuary City
Elgin, OR – Mayor S. James Johnson signed a proclamation April 1 designating Elgin as Oregon’s first Bigfoot sanctuary city!
The humorous City Facebook post for April Fool’s Day serves to promote the forthcoming Elgin Sasquatch Festival, scheduled for August 1, 2026 in the Jewel of the Blue Mountains. The event is sponsored in part by the Hu-Na-Ha RV Park, which is owned and operated by the City of Elgin. For more information, follow Elgin Sasquatch on Instagram.
