Portland Man Charged in Drug and Firearm Offense
PORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland man is facing federal charges after investigators say they uncovered drugs, firearms, and suspected explosive devices during a search of his home.
Aaron Nathaniel Gabbert, 50, made his initial appearance Friday before a U.S. magistrate judge on a criminal complaint charging him with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents, on March 25, 2026, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Gabbert’s residence after identifying him as a suspected narcotics distributor.
During the search, investigators seized 34 firearms, including rifles, a shotgun, and multiple handguns—many of them loaded. Authorities also recovered a ballistic helmet and vest, along with approximately one pound of cocaine.
Most of the наркотics were found in the basement, where investigators also located more than $11,000 in cash and an apparent 3D-printed firearm suppressor, commonly known as a silencer. Officials said they also discovered what appeared to be two destructive devices.
The case is being investigated by the FBI and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit’s Dangerous Drugs Team. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Scott M. Kerin and Kemp Strickland are prosecuting the case.
Officials emphasized that a criminal complaint is only an accusation, and Gabbert is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Authorities said the investigation was supported in part by the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, a federally funded initiative that coordinates multi-agency drug enforcement efforts.
The arrest is also part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative, a federal effort aimed at disrupting criminal organizations, including drug trafficking networks, operating within the United States.
