Milwaukie, OR. — An Amtrak train struck an abandoned vehicle Thursday evening after it became stuck on railroad tracks in Milwaukie, police said.
At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2026, Milwaukie Police responded to a report of a black sedan stuck on the train tracks near Southeast Harrison Street and Southeast Railroad Avenue. Officers immediately requested railway managers halt train traffic.
While officers were en route, dispatchers received reports that a train had struck the vehicle.
Responding officers located a black Ford Mustang coupe that had been hit by an Amtrak train. After impact, the vehicle was pushed off the tracks and into a parked car in a nearby lot. The train was able to stop a short distance from the crash scene.
Police said no one was inside the Mustang or the parked vehicle at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew aboard the train.
Witnesses told officers the driver of the Mustang abandoned the vehicle on the tracks before the collision and left the area.
The Amtrak train sustained minor damage but was able to continue on its route after the incident.
