Lincoln City, OR. — Lincoln City Police K9 Nix joined Girl Scout Troop 10143 to demonstrate how working dogs support public safety and community partnerships.
Lincoln City Police Department K9 Nix visited Girl Scout Troop 10143 on Monday, Feb. 16, to help scouts earn their Animal Helpers Badge.
Nix demonstrated how police K9s assist officers in tracking and apprehension while also serving as trusted partners in public safety. She was joined by Curry, a dog from Guide Dogs for the Blind, to show how working animals support people through specialized training and close human-animal bonds.
The presentation highlighted the connection between humans and animals and how that partnership can enhance safety and independence.
Police officials said K9 Nix plays an important role in the department and the broader Lincoln City community, not only through law enforcement duties but also as an ambassador during outreach events.
The department noted that its K9 program was launched with financial support from Lincoln City residents and expressed gratitude for the community’s continued backing.
