Oregon — Most seasonal positions run from April through September, though some begin as early as February and others extend into December. Appointments last between four and nine months, depending on location and operational needs.
Seasonal staff support visitor access to Oregon’s state parks while maintaining clean, safe facilities. Duties include janitorial work, landscape maintenance, visitor education and customer service.
Hourly pay starts at $20.28 for seasonal Park Ranger Assistants and $23.79 for seasonal Park Rangers. Positions include medical, vision and dental coverage for employees and qualified family members, along with paid sick leave, vacation, personal leave and 11 paid holidays annually. Student workers ages 16 and older who are enrolled in high school start at $20.27 per hour or more, depending on experience.
According to the agency, seasonal roles often serve as entry points into long-term careers. All three of Oregon State Parks’ Region Directors began as seasonal employees.
