Waldport, OR. — The Lincoln County Animal Shelter, in partnership with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Board of Commissioners, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony March 5, 2026, to mark the opening of its new animal shelter facility in Waldport.
The event celebrates six years of planning, fundraising, and construction efforts to deliver an updated space designed to better serve animals and the community.
The new facility is located at 220 SW Dahl Avenue in Waldport. Media tours will begin at 8:30 a.m., with members of the press asked to RSVP in advance to assist with tour group planning. The public ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., followed by guided tours and opportunities to meet shelter staff and learn more about daily operations.
Organizers encourage both media and community members to RSVP to assist with event planning. Parking will be limited, with the main shelter lot reserved for ADA parking and ceremony access. Street parking will be available, and carpooling is encouraged.
Attendees are asked not to bring personal pets. The shelter will not be accepting donated items at the event unless they are purchased from the shelter’s Amazon wish list.
For those unable to attend, the shelter plans to share a virtual look at the facility through its Facebook page and website.
The Lincoln County Animal Shelter continues to seek community support through monetary donations, wish list purchases, and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are needed for roles including dog walking, cat socialization, and foster care. Donations may be mailed or delivered to the shelter at 220 SW Dahl Avenue, Waldport, OR 97394, or made by phone at 541-265-0720.
