Hillsboro, OR. — Construction was completed in late January on Hillsboro’s newest fire station, marking a significant expansion of emergency services in the city’s rapidly growing South Hillsboro neighborhood.
Fire Station 9, which broke ground just over a year ago, is now fully operational, with firefighters moved in and ready to respond around the clock. The station is designed to support reliable response times as emergency call volumes increase alongside residential development in the area.
The facility was built to modern, disaster-resilient standards and reflects a long-term public safety investment by the City of Hillsboro. In addition to housing firefighting and emergency medical response operations for Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, the station includes administrative and multi-departmental spaces intended to improve coordination during emergencies.
Fire Station 9 will host the Operations Center for the city’s Economic & Community Development Department Building Division, along with workspaces for Police and other City departments. The site also includes electric vehicle charging stations and is planned to feature a future self-service mini-branch of the Hillsboro Public Library.
To mark the station’s opening, community members are invited to attend a Fire Station Community Open House on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will offer tours of the new facility and opportunities to meet firefighters and city staff from the Building Division, Emergency Management, Police, Public Works, Water, and Library departments.
