Seth Benham focused his announcement on bringing real representation to Josepine County, highlighting Representative Yunker’s failure to pass any bills in the previous session, which led to no funding being returned to the district. (Talk has been mentioned in the capital building that Representative Yunker has also failed to submit his bills so far, even for this session, but that has yet to be substantiated due to bill submissions not being public till the Start of the session).
In the Campaigns press release, the Benham campaign highlights:
“For too long, Josephine County has been ignored in Salem. We send our
tax dollars north, and we get nothing back. Our families are struggling with housing costs, our
small businesses are drowning in high taxes and regulations, and our voice isn’t being heard.
That needs to change.” According to legislative analysis, the lack of active representation from
the current State Representative has cost the district an estimated $5.8 million in lost resources
and funding opportunities, and most recently submitted zero bills for the upcoming short
session.”Josephine County deserves a representative who shows up, listens, and delivers
results,” Benham said. “I’m not running because I want a title. I’m running because I see what’s
happening to our community, and I know we can do better.”
On his announcement video, Seth highlights his priorities, specifying that his top priorities:
✅ Fight for Business Owners and Working Families – Democrats have made Oregon one of the worst states in America to do business. I’ll fight to reduce regulations hindering businesses and protect local employers from Salem’s anti-business agenda. Families need jobs—not more government.
✅ Decrease Regulations and Increase Affordable Housing – Families are being priced out of Josephine County because government regulations make it too expensive to build homes. I’ll fight to reduce unnecessary regulations, streamline permitting, and increase the supply of affordable housing.
✅ Defend Public Safety and Community Standards – HB 3115 has turned our communities into homeless camps filled with open drug use. I’ll fight to repeal HB 3115, restore local control, support our police, and work to implement laws that actually hold people accountable.
