Portland, OR. — A Multnomah County judge on Thursday sentenced Angelina Latisha Minor, 29, to 125 months in prison for a deadly drunk-driving crash that killed her four-year-old child and injured others.
Jenna Plank handed down the sentence in Multnomah County Circuit Court following Minor’s guilty plea to Manslaughter in the Second Degree, two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.
Court records show Minor was driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.32 percent — roughly three times Oregon’s legal limit — on March 20, 2024. At the time, she was on supervision for a 2023 drunk-driving conviction and had previously entered diversion for another DUII case in 2019.
According to investigators, Minor was driving a black Hyundai Elantra around 9 p.m. near the intersection of North Fessenden Street and North Mohawk Avenue in North Portland when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed head-on into a black Tesla. Three children were seated in the back of the car, and her significant other was in the front passenger seat. One child, age four, died as a result of the collision.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Chris Shull prosecuted the case for the state.
“Ms. Minor’s conduct in this case was incredibly reckless and terribly tragic,” Shull said after sentencing. “It is unacceptable to drive intoxicated with children in your car in our community, and I hope that Ms. Minor’s experience will deter other people from getting behind the wheel while impaired.”
Shull also said the district attorney’s office recognized Minor’s acceptance of responsibility and expressed concern for her surviving children, who will be separated from her during her incarceration.
The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office credited the Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team and Officer David Enz for their investigative work leading to the conviction.
