Clackamas County, OR.— A Prineville man was killed Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 35, according to the Oregon State Police.
OSP troopers responded to the crash at approximately 1:00 p.m. on January 8. A preliminary investigation found that a westbound Ford Escape, driven by Jacob Robert Brugman, 29, of Vancouver, Washington, was passing a Ford F-250 in a designated passing lane when the F-250 merged into the Escape.
The Ford F-250, operated by Gary James Beebe, 55, of Prineville, lost control after the contact, crashed through a guardrail, and rolled down an embankment into nearby trees. The Ford Escape was able to stop after the collision.
Beebe was pronounced deceased at the scene. Brugman and his passenger, Kassidy Brugman, 27, were not injured, police said.
The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the Hoodland Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The crash remains under investigation.
