Lebanon, OR. — Firefighters with the Lebanon Fire District responded to a reported structure fire in the 31900 block of Weldon Road during the mid-afternoon of Monday, December 29.
While en route, dispatch advised that the homeowner had arrived to find smoke alarms sounding and window blinds melting inside the residence. The first unit on scene was the on-duty Battalion Chief, who assumed incident command and observed light, wispy smoke coming from the eaves of the home.
After completing a 360-degree walk-around, the incident commander encountered gray, non-turbulent smoke at the front door and closed it to limit fire growth. Due to the rural location and lengthy driveway, the first engine laid more than 400 feet of supply line, supported by multiple water tenders.
Firefighters made entry through the front door and located the fire in the kitchen area. Crews quickly extinguished the blaze while additional personnel conducted searches, confirming the fire had not extended into the attic or walls. No injuries to occupants or firefighters were reported.
The response included two engines, three water tenders, one ALS ambulance, one heavy rescue unit, and one rehabilitation unit. During the incident, the district also responded to multiple additional 911 calls, temporarily depleting available resources.
The Lebanon Fire District reminded residents of the importance of working smoke alarms. Residents needing assistance with smoke alarms are encouraged to contact the Fire & Life Safety Division at (541) 451-1901.
